Notice of Special General Meeting
To All Members of the Cochrane & District Chamber of CommerceOn behalf of the Board of Directors of the Cochrane & District Chamber of Commerce, this letter provides notice to all members that the Cochrane & District Chamber of Commerce is calling a Special Meeting of Members on Thursday, October 2, 2014 at the Cochrane Royal Canadian Legion #15, 114 - 5 Avenue W., Cochrane, Alberta at 11:30 am Mountain Time.
The purpose of this meeting is for members to pass a Special Resolution to continue the Chamber under the provisions of the new Canada Not-for-profit Corporations Act, authorizing the directors to apply for a Certificate of Continuance and file a new set of bylaws. The Board of Directors will also provide a mid-year update on the Chamber.
Federal Not For Profit Legislation
With the implementation of the federal government’s new Canada Not-for-profit Corporations Act, the Cochrane & District Chamber of Commerce must file Articles of Continuance and revised Bylaws by no later than October 17, 2014. Failure to meet the deadline set by the Federal Government will result in the Chamber being assumed to be inactive and dissolved.
In an effort to ensure the ongoing operation of the Cochrane & District Chamber of Commerce, the Articles of Continuance and the new Bylaws are being presented to members for review and approval at the Special General Meeting on October 2, 2014.
