Topic: Don Marner from the Alberta Government - Job Skills and Training
Don Marner has been employed by the Ministry of Labour in Calgary as a Workforce Consultant since April, 2014 coming over from Alberta Human Services where he had been working the previous 5½ years as a Business and Industry Liaison. Prior to that he had been a Career and Employment Consultant since April, 1997 when he joined the Ministry of Advanced Education and Career Development from the Student Finance Board.
The purpose of the presentation will be to introduce members to the work as well as the resources and services of the Ministry of Labour in support of the workforce needs and challenges of employers in Alberta. The information will be shared in a PowerPoint presentation format.
The topics to be covered will include:
- Major goals and areas of responsibility of the Ministry of Labour related to the Alberta workforce and their workplace.
- The role and purpose of a Workforce Consultant (understanding and assisting employers with their workforce needs and challenges).
- Related programs and services to assist employers.
